This box is PERFECT for my dual Kenwood KFC-W3012's. Kenwood says the optimum space for each sub is 1.25 cu ft, and this box meets those specs.
In order to ensure longevity and peak performance, I temporarily removed the poly padding, and applied a fresh coat of silicone sealer over every inch of the internal seams. I expect this will help to prevent any minor air leakage from the factory "quick-applied" sealers - which looked a little thin, and a bit dried-out. However, there were no missed areas from the factory. Just an extra precaution for peace of mind knowing I will probably never have to disassemble the setup for repairs.
If you decide to do this, be sure to allow the silicone to fully dry before assembly (at least 24 hours) as some folks say the silicone fumes can damage the subwoofer materials. Even after doing all that, my vehicle did smell like silicone for a few days - then the odor completely disappeared. Used only one 4-dollar tube of plain, white, low-odor silicone.
I don't know how this box can be built and shipped for such a low price. Why bother building the perfect box when this one can be had for such a bargain? The carpet covering is flawless, and all the wood is sturdy at 3/4" thick. Speaker connectors are high-quality. No complaints from me, and I will buy another one if I ever need it for a second vehicle. I guess the slow economy has made everything dirt cheap; distributors are practically giving stuff away - just to clear off their warehouse shelves.
